IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
IN AM FOR THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO UNIFIED FAMILY COURT - JUVENILE DIVISION
STANDING ORDER NO. R1

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT Laurie Schaffner, Ph.D. candidate, Department of Sociology, U.C. Berkeley, be granted access to Juvenile Probation Department records of female juveniles detained in the Youth Guidance Center at the time of the records review. This access to documents shall be for the sole purpose of accomplishing the goals set forth in the Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") dated February 9, 1998. This access shall be subject to all of the assurances of confidentiality contained in said MOU, including but not limited to a prohibition against the names of minors being used in any format, including notes.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Ms. Schaffner may contact female juveniles selected, following review of their records and interview these juveniles with their consent pursuant to the MOU.

The review of documents and interviews with juveniles shall be completed between April 20, 1998 and June 1, 1998.
